Outliance Los Cabos Luxury Real Estate ran an interview with Hillary Kent about Casa Blanca Sur, covering her inspiration for the property, the challenges of the project and the creative process behind it.

Casa Blanca Sur was built in 2001 as a retreat hotel on one of Baja’s best surf breaks at Cerritos, then stood empty on the beach for four years before a full gut renovation brought it back. The procurement scope was a hotel rather than a house: eleven suites taken from three-star to five-star, plus a new courtyard, a rooftop yoga deck, two chef’s kitchens and a beachside pool area built to entertain thirty.
Renovation procurement is less predictable than new-build. Dimensions are whatever they turn out to be once the walls are open, so schedules cannot be locked early, and eleven guest rooms still have to arrive at a consistent standard while the building keeps revealing itself — then survive a beachfront site.
