Club Ninety Six is the private beach club at Villas del Mar on Palmilla Beach, Los Cabos — a members’ gathering place for Del Mar homeowners that brings a restaurant, retail space and beachfront amenities together under one roof.Mercantil is credited as designer on this project, alongside EDG Dallas on architecture, for owner Villas del Mar. Purchasing was handled separately by Project Dynamics of Las Vegas.A private members’ club is a harder brief than a hotel. The same people use the space several times a week and come to know every surface in it, so the interiors have to survive constant use while still feeling like somewhere worth crossing the property for. Restaurant, retail and lounge each needed its own character while still reading as one place.Sitting directly on what is widely held to be the best swimmable beach in Los Cabos also keeps the club in near-permanent use, and puts the specification under the same coastal pressures we design for across Baja — salt air, sun and sand.Explore our
