THE WELL SPA | CHILENO BAY

Cabo San Lucas | BCS México

Mercantil was engaged for procurement on the full renovation of The Well at Chileno Bay, transforming an existing spa into a new brand for Auberge Resorts, with architecture by Otherworld Creative and brand standards set by The Well. The headline number on this project is a procurement one: 95% of the specification was sourced from the Baja Peninsula itself. That figure is harder to reach than it sounds. A wellness brand of this standing arrives with holistic material standards — what a surface is made of, where it came from and how it was finished all form part of the guest proposition rather than sitting behind it. Meeting those standards while keeping sourcing local means the easy route, importing to specification, is closed from the outset. Every eco-friendly substitution has to be found, sampled and proven from makers within reach of the site.Sourcing at that radius is also what makes the result specific to where it stands. A meditation and treatment space built substantially from Baja materials belongs to the peninsula in a way an imported package never does — and it shortens the supply chain that carries it there. This is the kind of constraint our FF&E sourcing and procurement practice is built around, and it carries directly into our hotel and resort furniture work.Architecture: Otherworld Creative.
