Fifty-eight storeys above Chapultepec Park, The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City looks out across the whole capital — from the historic Chapultepec forest to Paseo de la Reforma. Mercantil handled purchasing for the property’s rooftop restaurant Samos, the lobby, the spa, and the VIP suites and penthouses.Our role here was accessorising and art styling: the layer of a hotel interior that is specified last, seen first, and almost impossible to buy off a schedule. Working to architecture by Meyer Davis of New York and interior design by Sofia Idoate in Madrid and
Hillary Kent, we sourced and placed the objects, art and accessories that make those rooms feel occupied rather than furnished.It is also our clearest urban project. Almost all of our hospitality work sits on the Baja coast; this one is a high-rise in Mexico City, with the access, lift and scheduling constraints of a tower rather than a resort — pieces arriving floor by floor, into finished spaces, on a live construction programme.Sourcing across México for a property in México City meant our
