Canto Pacífico is a new-build three-bedroom villa set into the side of the arroyo above Las Tunas, Todos Santos, with mountain and ocean views and the beach minutes away. Our scope ran across the interior, cabinetry and finishes, alongside architect Gaddo Piazzesi and to a brief that leaned Italian and restrained; interior design is by
Hillary Kent.Most of our scope here was millwork, and millwork is the least forgiving category in a house. The large chef’s kitchen opening onto the living room, and the custom closets in each of the three en-suite bedrooms, are all made-to-measure — pieces that only exist once, cut to a room that is still being finished around them.Cabinetry has no tolerance for approximation. A sofa that arrives slightly wrong is still a sofa; a kitchen run that arrives slightly wrong is scrap. Shop drawings, prototyping and site measurement carry the whole risk, and that sequence is why we run production rather than place orders.Outside, a ten-person dining terrace faces the ocean over the infinity pool — furniture specified for permanent sun and salt rather than adapted to it.See our
