Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo del Sol sits on the Golden Corridor, drawing on the Pueblos Mágicos of mainland México and a thread of the Mediterranean. Mercantil handled purchasing across the property with Parker & Co, for architecture and interiors by EDG Design and owner BlackPalm Development. The brief was to make a Baja resort feel connected to the craft traditions of mainland México — which is a sourcing problem before it is a design one. It was answered on the road: buying trips through
Oaxaca, Michoacán, Guadalajara and Tonalá, collecting one-of-a-kind pieces rather than repeating a catalogue across the property. That approach scales badly and is worth doing anyway. Four restaurants, a rooftop, an art gallery, a retail space, the adventure centre and two pool areas each needed to feel individually considered while still belonging to one resort. Sourcing regionally, piece by piece, is the only way to get there without the sameness that a single supplier package produces. The project won the
Gold Key Award for Best Resort, shared with every collaborator on it.See how we source and produce
